Musician turned politician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has lashed out at Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze for always attacking whoever joins politics.
During a Saturday interview on NTV, the valu valu singer said Nambooze is jealous of his achievements so she is working around the clock to halt his support.
On Wednesday Chameleone officially joined the Democratic Party (DP) at Sharing hall Nsambya and assured his supporters that he went in National Resistance Movement (NRM) to make money but for the opposition part, its a different story- he comes to stay.
After the declaration, Nambooze who is one of the senior DP members wondered if Chameleone will not be forsaking DP for another party since it has always been his tendency to jump from one decision to another.
“Chameleone joining DP should not excite anyone because at one time he announced that he had joined Islam but eventually came back to Catholic Church. But the onus is on him to prove that the Chameleone thing ends with his music,” said Nambooze.
The legislator also went ahead to attack the DP leadership for admitting Chameleone without following the procedures as per the party structures.
“Becoming a DP member one has to go through a branch from the village you stay, then the National Executive Committee (NEC) is notified about the new member in the party.
“Madam Nambooze thinks she can drive the opinion of the masses, but she is not going to do that on me. I don’t know why whenever new political players emerge, Nambooze becomes uneasy,” he said adding that Nambooze has never embraced any fresh political players in the opposition.
“As you witnessed when Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi Kyadondo East MP) came, Nambooze turned him into a punching bag, I surely believe she is so feeble-minded and subnormal,” He lamented.
On the issue of him joining DP without following the protocol, Chameleone said that the top authority based on the party constitution which Nambooze has no authority of.
