Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has today made peace with State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda after spending some good time without seeing eye to eye.
Posting on her Facebook Page, Nambooze revealed that their ‘enmity’ initiated the day they had a heated debate over the Wildlife Bill.
She said after burying their hatchet, Kiwanda told her that the technical team in the Ministry is under instructions to revisit the bill so that the offensive clause about wildlife and culture is omitted.
This afternoon we have made peace with my Honourable brother Minister Kiwanda. He told me that the technical team in the Ministry is under instructions to revisit the Wildlife Bill and remove the offensive clause about Wildlife and culture. He was bitter that I had taken the matter to levels unbearable for him.He told me that he was even reprimanded by Jjaaja Walusimbi.
But for sure as an opposition MP what am supposed to do, keep friends with colleagues on the Government side and turn a blind eye on bad laws?
Munange Kiwanda am sorry but I can’t let our Friendship to be something that will compromise me as I do my legislative work and fight for change.
