So many people and events made the news this year, 2016.
Usually, it is difficult to choose the single most outstanding event or person(s) from the year.
2016 is different. It is the simplest to choose from the person(s) of the year.
The Uganda Cranes is undeniably the winner at all fronts.
The event that took place on 4 September, 2016 at Nambole Stadium was a moment to remember for all football lovers in the country which saw Uganda Cranes beat Comoros to qualify for the first Africa Nations Cup in almost 40 years and for your information it uplifted the country’s spirit and pride. Uganda clinched finals spot for first time since 1978.
The Uganda Cranes under Coach Micho and under the administration of Moses Magogo, qualified to play in Gabon which will host the continent’s number one sporting event in January 2017.
The 11 man committed team which included; Denis Onyango, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya, Murushid Jjuuko, Isaac Isinde, Khalid Aucho, Tonny Mawejje, Luwagga Kizito, Moses Oloya, Farouk Miya, Geoffrey Massa was ready to do anything so that they can qualify for the prestigious tournament and indeed they fulfilled the dream of many Ugandans who Had already lost hope after several times of failed attempts.
Ugandans are strong supporters of the nation’s football team, The Cranes, giving 101% of their support every year and 2016 was the year for reaping the results.
In the entire year,2016 nothing made Ugandans proud like how these boys did so without fear or favour, probably Uganda Cranes is the person of the year.
