The situation in Kasese town is under siege as Uganda Peoples’s Defence Force (UPDF) tries to hunt down the new militia group known as Kirumiramutima. The Rwenzururu palace is under surveillance and it’s reported that four Royal Guards in the Kingdom have been killed following a raid by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces- UPDF on the palace and administrative office of Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu.
Clarence Bwambale, the Rwenzururu Kingdom Information Minister says the four guards were killed in a fight with UPDF officers who wanted to gain access to the offices located on Rwenzori Street in the centre of Kasese town. One UPDF soldier was injured after being stabbed by a guard.
People in the areas have flown their homes to find safer places to hide as UPDF soldiers are scattered everywhere cross checking every person in order to secure the security in the area.
On Thursday, UPDF gunned down eight members of Kirumiramutima in Kabarole who tried to exchange live bullets with the forces. The militia group had planned to attack military bases in their campaign to create Yira Republic.
