City businessman and other murder suspects including his Burundian girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari, brothers Joseph Kanyamunyu and Moses Kanyamunyu are set to appear in court next week probably on Monday.

Since 12 November, Kanyamunyu and Munwangari have been in police custody following their arrest after allegedly shooting Kenneth Akena who was a social worker for a non governmental organization(NGO).

On Thursday this week, Kanyamunyu’s two brothers were also arrested and their houses searched to collaborate information that they may have some knowledge about Akena’s death.

While appearing on an interview on NTV on Saturday, police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi said the suspects have been in police custody beyond the constitutional period of 48 hours because police were still carrying out an investigation on the case.

“We will produce them to court next week, if courts sat on weekends, we would have charged them already,” said Kaweesi.

Akena was allegedly shot by Kanyamunyu following an incident of scratching his expensive car by Akena as he was trying to drive off from parking.
