A national archives centre has been opened. The centre will be expected to improve access to information and also ensure proper safety of records.
According to the 1995 Ugandan constitution article 41(1) states which states that every citizen has a right of access to information in the possession of state or any other organ or agency if the state except where the release of the information is likely to prejudice the security or sovereignty of the state or interfere with the right to privacy of any person permits information access to persons as long as it doesn’t contradict with the law so a national archive was very much needed.
Prior, it has been tooth and nail struggle for most people to access public records due to the tiresome and non found information. Since now a national archives centre is in place let’s pray we don’t get ‘more of the same’ like before.
