Uganda Revenue Authority has closed Nakivubo stadium over nonpayment of its tax arrears.
URA official Abdusalam Waiswa says the tax body agreed with the stadium authorities in 2013 to pay off sh800 million in two years but the Nakivubo management failed to meet their end of the bargain.
Nakivubo stadium, the once centre of Ugandan sports activity, is now a hostage not only from URA but also business people who have built shops around the stadium.
According to URA, Nakivubo did not pay its taxes for a period of 10 years.
