Information and Communication Technology (ICT) minister Frank Tumwebaze has instituted seven-man team to look into the affairs of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC).
The minister appointed veteran journalist and head of African Centre for Media Excellence Peter Mwesigye to head the committee to scan UBC issues, assess its organisational capacity and offer recommendations.
Others on the committee are Kato Bitarabeho, Peter O. Jabwelli, Andrew Kibaya, Adolf Mbaine and Peace Piwang.
The committee will work with UBC board headed by Simon Kaheru who was appointed last week to replace Nathan Nabeta.
Mwesigye’s team which also has President Museveni’s son in law Odrek Rwabwogo has one month to finalise its assignment and a second month to compile the report.
President Museveni told the press at Kyankwanzi on Sunday that his government was committed to revamping UBC to serve the communication needs of the government.
